Aid & Development Volunteering
Fiona is passionate about using her nursing and midwifery skills to improve the lives of women and communities in need. She volunteers in aid and development work, focusing on maternal health, community education, and empowering women to transform their communities.
With years of experience across multiple countries, Fiona brings practical skills and a deep commitment to walking alongside communities as they build healthier futures.
Supporting women through pregnancy, birth, and beyond. Working to reduce maternal and infant mortality through education, training, and hands-on midwifery care.
Empowering communities to recognise and address their own health needs through education programs that cover physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing.
Equipping women with knowledge about their health and lives, giving them renewed hope and the tools to make informed choices for themselves and their families.
Fiona's journey began as a nurse and midwife, first volunteering in hospital and community health settings in West Africa. Those early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to improving outcomes for women in under-resourced areas.
Over the years, the work has expanded from direct clinical care to include training health professionals, mentoring local leaders, setting up birthing centres, and running community development programs.
Fiona continues to volunteer her skills in aid and development, partnering with local organisations to make a lasting impact. More details about her current placement will be shared soon.
